Our History
 From our exclusive 36-month, 36,000-mile warranty to complimentary vehicle pick up and delivery, we've been refining our better-than-dealer experience for more than two decades.
This is because we've built a progressive, professional automotive business focused on:

- Providing convenience offerings to ensure you never miss a beat in your busy life.
Star Auto Authority was founded in 1984, when Chuck Hartogh and Mike Starovich purchased Bill’s Texaco in Glenview from Mike’s father, who was retiring after 40 years.
They decided to focus solely on automotive service and relocated the business to the former Jennings Chevrolet and Wigglesworth Volvo showroom at 1723A Waukegan Rd. in Glenview. The 11-bay, 5,500-square-foot repair facility opened on April 1, 1985 as Star Auto Authority.
After 15 successful years, the company opened a second, larger location on October 8, 2001 in Vernon Hills. The 22-bay, 24,000-square-foot facility set a new standard for independent automotive repair facilities. Our customers continue to be amazed by how immaculate, spacious and bright the facility is.
To offer the same environment in Glenview, we moved in February 2005 to a much larger, more modern facility at 835 Milwaukee Ave.
Mike and Chuck made a move in early 2007 to experience the thrill of sole ownership: They separated Star Auto Authority into two companies. In January, Mike took the helm in Vernon Hills, and Chuck took the reigns in Glenview. The change also enables each location to better tailor itself to its respective market.

(Note: The warranty on all repairs and services performed through 2006 will be honored by both Star Auto Authority companies. Warranties on repairs made after January 1, 2007 will be honored by the company that performed the work.)
